Photographer Alex Bailey has worked as a film stills
photographer on over 50 productions including RocknRolla, Atonement
and Tomb Raider. A career that started in a local newspaper darkroom
with a determination to succeed and just two qualifications, a driving
licence and a City & Guilds in photography, his experience as
one of the leading photographers in the industry now spans more
that 25 years.
“I was brought up on Nikon cameras and have remained faithful
ever since, with absolutely no regret. On a film set I work with
two high-end digital SLR cameras, shooting in raw mode and on my
latest feature, Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes, I started with
a D3. I can not possibly imagine that a better camera can be made,
the all-round functionality and ability to work in a demanding professional
environment covering a range of photographic situations is second
to none.” |

Acclaimed wildlife expert Andy Rouse is renowned
for his dramatic action and close-up shots, which have won him many
awards. A pro for over 11 years, he made the switch in December
2007.
‘The D3 felt right in my hand the first time I used it and
it’s felt right ever since. It’s responsive, trustworthy,
with incredibly accurate exposure, outstanding tonal range and AF
which works like a dream. With the D3, there’s no doubt that
it’s going to get the shots that I want.’
